Comatus — created by Saúl Damián López de la Peña (founder and CEO) · saul_lopez@uadec.edu.mx with a collaboration team from universities — a platform for mentorships and academic work with professionals reviewed by our team.
1.2 Capacidad legal.
12.4 Caso fortuito o fuerza mayor.
Last updated: October 20, 2026. Version 1.1 (5% commission, in force for agreements from November 5, 2026).
These terms govern the use of the Comatus website. By creating an account, submitting a request or registering as a professional, you accept this version. If you do not agree with it, do not use the site. These terms are a separate document from the privacy notice, which also forms part of your relationship with the site.
1. Acceptance and legal capacity
1.1 Acceptance. Acceptance is manifested by creating an account, submitting a mentorship, order or course request, or registering as a professional. If you do not accept these terms, we cannot process your request.
1.2 Legal capacity. To use the site you must be over 18 or, if you are a minor, have the consent of your mother, father or legal guardian, as explained in section 4 and in the privacy notice. If you act on behalf of a legal entity (a company, for example), you represent that you have sufficient authority to bind it, and you assume responsibility for that being true.
1.3 Applicable version. Every request is governed by the version of these terms published at the time you submit it. If we publish a new version, changes are announced at least 15 days in advance on the homepage and, when they affect registered accounts, also by email.
1.4 Record of the accepted version. The version of these terms you accepted is not stored on your account today. What is recorded is the version that was published at the moment you submitted your request (section 1.3) and, if you accepted the AI training consent, the date and time of that acceptance. When the record of the accepted version starts working, it will be announced on the homepage, together with the other changes to these terms.
2. What Comatus is and is not
2.1 What it is. Comatus is an independent digital intermediation platform. It connects people who need help with a course module or with a custom-made project to professionals who offer mentorships, take orders and run courses.
2.2 What Comatus is not. In particular:
— It is not a university, a higher education institution or a school. It does not issue degrees, diplomas or academic credits, and it cannot validate or authenticate studies.
— The "Certificate of Mentorship" is signed by the mentor or instructor on their own behalf, backed by their own track record. It is not a professional degree, not an official certification, and its weight depends on whoever evaluates it. If you need it to count as formal credit, you must arrange that directly with your institution.
— It is not part of any university. Institution names (UNAM, UANL, UAdeC, BUAP, UdeG, UAM, IPN, ITAM, IBERO, Anáhuac México, UP and UVM) are used only to identify catalog modules and the community that collaborates. Their mention implies no endorsement, sponsorship, agreement or authorization from any of them, and none of those institutions is responsible for the content of mentorships or orders.
— It is not an agent, intermediary or representative of the labor or contractual relationship between the student and the professional. That relationship is direct between the two parties.
— It does not guarantee that a professional will accept a request, show up, deliver on time or meet a determined standard. The credential review we perform is internal and does not amount to an official certification.
— The job board in the side panel is informational. Offers come from public remote job sources and from community postings; they are shown in summary form without linking to the original post. Comatus does not broker hiring, does not verify listings and is not responsible for published offers.
3. Scope of the service
Comatus offers four things, described here as they actually work on the site:
3.1 Module-by-module mentorships. Live one-on-one sessions with a professional on a specific catalog module. They are booked by the hour on $250, $400 or $500 MXN plans (with different schedule availability), or as a full course of $2,200 to $4,500 MXN, consisting of 4 hours, 2 days a week for one month, including the certificate signed by the instructor. The exact full-course price depends on the module.
3.2 Artifact (custom order). Work made to order by a professional and delivered already completed: an essay, code, a project, an analysis. It is not a live session but a deliverable. On the site you describe what you need and propose a price; the professional may counteroffer and the two of you agree before starting. The price you propose is an offer, not a payment commitment by Comatus.
3.3 Exclusive courses. Full courses with the complete syllabus, at $6,000 MXN per course. They are booked from the module card on the homepage.
3.4 Professional registration (mentors and tutors). Professionals who want to give mentorships or take orders register with their degree or evidence of experience in the area, the module or specialty they will work on, and their years of experience. Having merely taken the module is not enough. Every registration request is reviewed before it is accepted, and that review does not amount to an official certification.
The site also lists internships, certifications and vacancies, and routes requests from companies looking for interns or professionals.
4. Account and eligibility
4.1 The account is optional. You can submit requests without an account. If you create one, your name, your contact (WhatsApp number with country code or email) and a password of at least 8 characters are registered and stored in the browser you registered from.
4.2 One contact, one account. The account key is your email address or phone number. Two accounts cannot be created with the same contact.
4.3 Email domains. The site does not currently restrict domains: any validly formatted email address or any phone number with an international country code (+52 Mexico, +57 Colombia, +1 United States, +34 Spain, among others) is accepted. The email domain grants you no extra permission: every account, whatever domain it comes from, has the same rights and the same duties, and the domain is used neither to order the attention nor to decide what you can see in the catalog. If the list of accepted domains ever changes, it will be announced on the homepage.
4.4 Account responsibility. You are responsible for your password and for everything done through your account. If you suspect someone else is using it, tell us immediately. You are also responsible for the accuracy of the information you register.
4.5 Minors. If you are under 18, you need the consent of your mother, father or legal guardian. On the site you tick the "I am a minor" box and the name and contact of your guardian are captured and sent along with the request. That consent is currently declarative: we do not verify it automatically. We explain the risk and the consequences in section 8 of the privacy notice.
4.6 Professionals. If you register as a professional, you represent that you hold the qualifications you state and that the information you submit is accurate. Registering with someone else's credentials is not allowed.
5. Requests and how they are processed
5.1 How a request enters. You fill it in on the site (the mentorship form, the order form, the exclusive course form, the professional registration form or the module suggestion form). When you send it: it is recorded in the project's event log, delivered to the team's internal channels through Microsoft Teams and Slack, registered as a contact in HubSpot, and sent by email through Web3Forms. If your request includes an attachment, it travels with it, up to 10 MB.
5.2 Who reviews it. A member of the team reviews it, classifies it and prioritizes it. An artificial intelligence assistant supports that work (section 10), but it does not decide or reply on its own.
5.3 Response times. We commit to replying as soon as possible. Timing depends on the availability of professionals for each module and there is no guaranteed maximum deadline. The $500 MXN plan allows you to request emergency scheduling, subject to availability. If we cannot find an available professional for what you need, we will let you know.
5.4 The platform does not guarantee a response from the professional. The fact that your request is sent and recorded does not mean a professional will accept it, that a professional is available, or that the work will be delivered on the agreed date. Any such commitment, if there is one, is between you and the professional.
5.5 Cancelling a request. You may cancel a request at any time before a professional takes it, by writing to saul_lopez@uadec.edu.mx with the module and approximate date. If the work has already started, cancellation and its consequences are agreed directly between the parties.
6. Relationship with the professional and with the institution
6.1 The professional is independent. Whoever provides the mentorship or takes your order is an independent professional. They are not an employee, partner, representative, agent or associate of Comatus. No part of their service may be enforced against Comatus.
6.2 Responsibility for the service. The professional is responsible for their own work: for the content delivered, for the deadlines agreed and for fulfilling what you pay for. Comatus is responsible for its own obligations: receiving your request, reviewing it, getting back to you and keeping the site available.
6.3 No relationship with the university. There is no labor or contractual relationship between you, the professional and the educational institution you come from. The institution is not responsible for the content of the mentorships, the deliverables, the payments or the relationship between the parties.
6.4 Use of institution names. Mentioning an institution in the catalog or in a module name identifies only the program the module belongs to. It does not authorize, supervise or validate sessions or work delivered on behalf of that institution.
7. Payments
7.1 What Comatus charges. The site does not process payments: there is no payment gateway, we do not hold funds and everything the student pays goes directly to the professional. The only thing Comatus charges is a commission of 5% of the professional's profit, after taxes, under section 7.6. The student does not pay that commission: there is no surcharge or separate fee for the user.
7.2 Reference prices. The prices shown on the site ($250, $400 and $500 MXN per hour; $2,200 to $4,500 MXN per full course; $6,000 MXN per exclusive course) are reference prices and may change without prior notice.
7.3 The agreement is between the parties. For mentorships and courses, the price and scope are the published ones unless the professional states otherwise. For orders (Artifact), you propose a price and the professional may counteroffer: the two of you agree before starting. The payment method is agreed directly between the student and the professional.
7.4 Payment obligations. Once there is a professional and an agreement, the student pays what was agreed and the professional delivers what was agreed. Comatus does not broker those payments, does not withhold them and does not settle disputes between the parties.
7.5 Refunds and cancellation. There is no Comatus refund policy: any refund or cancellation arrangement is between the student and the professional, and it is advisable to agree it in writing before starting. Comatus does not take part in that refund: it does not charge the student, it does not withhold payments and it does not settle disputes between the two parties (section 7.4). If the work has already started, cancellation and the payment for what has already been delivered are agreed directly between the student and the professional (section 5.5). The 5% commission described in section 7.6 is not paid by the student, so there is nothing from Comatus to refund to them; it is calculated on the professional's profit and, if no work was delivered and nothing was paid, there is no profit and therefore nothing to charge.
7.6 5% commission. Comatus keeps one thing only: 5% of the professional's profit, after taxes. It is calculated on the profit (what the professional has left after taxes), not on the total of the operation. The professional sets the price, not Comatus (the hourly plans published today are $250, $400 and $500 MXN, and the professional is the one who applies them), and the student pays what the professional authorizes. How it is paid: for each job, the professional transfers the 5% to Comatus within 7 calendar days after receiving the student's payment (if the student pays in installments, for each installment), to the account Comatus indicates by email, and reports it to saul_lopez@uadec.edu.mx with the amount received and the profit calculation. Invoice: anyone who asks receives a Mexican tax receipt (CFDI) for the commission, issued by the controller, Saúl Damián López de la Peña (RFC LOPS030114859); it is requested at the same email address, with the requester's tax details. From when: the commission applies to agreements made on or after November 5, 2026 (15 days after it is published, under section 14.3); anything agreed before that date pays no commission. If we ever charged anything other than that 5%, it would be announced at least 15 days in advance on the homepage, and the new version of these terms would be published on this page with its date.
8. Intellectual property
8.1 The order deliverable. The custom-made work (Artifact) you pay for belongs to the student. Unless the parties agree otherwise in writing, once paid, the student may use, edit and exploit the deliverable. The author's moral rights that Mexican law does not allow to be assigned are reserved. If the deliverable includes third-party material or another author's material, the student must respect it.
8.2 The professional's material. What the professional shares in sessions — course material, examples, templates, methods, base code — remains theirs. You may not redistribute it, sell it, publish it online or use it outside the contracted service without their written authorization.
8.3 Recorded sessions. The service does not include session recording: Comatus does not record or store audio or video of mentorships. If you or the professional record a session, that recording is a private document: reproducing, disseminating or publishing it without the consent of all participants is prohibited. Live classes and sessions may not be recorded or rebroadcast without that consent either.
8.4 Site content. The design, code, module catalog, the Comatus name and the texts on the site belong to Comatus. A limited, non-exclusive, revocable and non-transferable license is granted to use the site in accordance with these terms. You may not copy, bulk-extract, resell or redistribute the catalog or the site content for commercial purposes without written authorization.
8.5 Vacancies and community content. Offers are shown in summary form without linking to the original post. The rights to each offer belong to whoever published it, and Comatus does not claim them.
8.6 Academic use of orders. Orders are work made to order. Every institution has its own academic integrity rules, and Comatus cannot verify or guarantee that use of a deliverable complies with them. Before using a deliverable in graded work, review it and confirm your institution allows it. If you use a deliverable without your institution allowing it, the consequences are yours and of the professional who delivered it: Comatus neither authorizes nor forbids the academic use of a piece of work, does not verify how a deliverable was used, and is not responsible for what your institution decides about it.
8.7 Personal data of minors. Data of minors is handled under the privacy notice, with the consent of their guardian, and is not used to train artificial intelligence models. Section 8 of the privacy notice explains that handling in detail.
9. Use of the service: obligations, conduct and suspension
9.1 Student obligations. You must provide truthful information, use your own account, and use the service in accordance with the law and these terms. It is not permitted to request, carry out or contract help for illegal activity, to deceive third parties, or to impersonate anyone. Content you upload (guides, rubrics, files) must be yours or you must be entitled to share it.
9.2 Professional obligations. You must deliver what you accept, meet the deadlines you agree and deliver work that is your own or properly licensed. You may not ask the student to route a payment outside the agreed terms, share their data with third parties, discriminate against them, or conduct the relationship improperly. If you cannot take a job, say so.
9.3 Prohibited conduct for everyone. The following are prohibited: publishing illegal content, discriminatory or threatening content, or harassing another person; using the site to send unsolicited mass communications; extracting data from the catalog or from accounts automatically; bypassing the site's or the log's limits; reselling the service without authorization; and impersonating Comatus or a professional.
9.4 Suspension and cancellation. We may suspend or cancel your account or a request, with or without prior notice, when: these terms or the law are breached; illegal content is requested; there is fraud or identity impersonation; the site is used for harassment; or an authority requires it. We may also cancel a request when the professional is unavailable, when the information is false, or when the operation cannot be served for technical reasons. When we cancel or suspend something, we notify you by email or at the contact number you registered (section 16.3), and if the work had already started, what has already been delivered and what is paid for it are settled between the student and the professional (section 7.5). Suspending or cancelling does not release you from the obligations you had already assumed (section 9.5).
9.5 Effects. Suspension or cancellation does not remove Comatus's right to claim damages, nor does it release you from obligations you already assumed (for example, paying for work already delivered). Data is handled under section 7 of the privacy notice.
10. AI-generated content and human review
10.1 What the AI does. The site uses an artificial intelligence assistant, called Beatrice, to classify and prioritize requests, organize the team's inbox and support first-line attention. Beatrice does not attend to students on its own and does not decide who gets which mentorship.
10.2 Human review. Every request is reviewed by a member of the team before anything is communicated. The person who reviews is responsible for what is replied and for correcting anything the AI misunderstood.
10.3 What the AI is not. AI-generated content is not official advice, not an academic evaluation, not a professional opinion and not a commitment on price, date or deliverables. Errors are possible.
10.4 Errors and reports. If you spot an incorrect answer or a wrong fact produced by the AI, write to saul_lopez@uadec.edu.mx with your request reference and we will review it.
10.5 Data used to improve the AI. Using your data to train or improve AI models requires a separate consent from the one needed to process your request. That consent is optional, is off by default, and you can revoke it. The details are in section 3 of the privacy notice. If you have not accepted it, your data is not used for that purpose.
11. Privacy
The processing of your personal data is described in the privacy notice, which forms part of these terms. In short: we do not sell your data; we use two separate consents (processing your request, which is necessary, and improving the AI, which is optional and off by default); and you can exercise your rights of access, rectification, cancellation and objection by writing to saul_lopez@uadec.edu.mx.
12. Liability and limitation of liability
12.1 The service is provided "as is". We take reasonable care that the site works, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, nor that a module, a professional, a price, a course or a vacancy will remain in the catalog, nor that published information is complete or error-free. The service, the catalog and the legal notices on the site may change, disappear or move without prior notice.
12.2 Limitation of liability. To the extent permitted by law, Comatus is not liable for indirect damages or lost profits, loss of opportunity, loss of data, loss of income, service interruption, cost of substitute services, or any damage arising from the act of a third party (including the professional and the institution). Nor is Comatus liable for damages exceeding an amount equivalent to what you paid Comatus in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim — an amount that is zero for the student, who pays nothing to Comatus, and for the professional is the total of the commissions paid to Comatus in that period.
12.3 No guarantee of results. We do not guarantee academic results, the passing of an assessment, obtaining a position, or achieving a particular price or date. Nor do we guarantee that a mentor will meet the assignment.
12.4 Force majeure. Neither party is liable for a breach caused by a fortuitous event or force majeure, nor for the outage of third-party services (cloud, messaging, email or CRM providers) beyond its control.
13. Indemnity
The student and the professional agree to indemnify and hold harmless Comatus, its collaborators and its providers for the damage they may suffer as a result of: (a) breach of these terms or of the law; (b) infringement of third-party rights by material they upload, propose or deliver; (c) providing false or misleading information; (d) improper use of the service or of the deliverables in a school setting; and (e) any third-party claim arising from their own actions, including improper use of the site.
Comatus will notify you of any claim and allow you to participate in its defense. This obligation survives termination of the relationship and cancellation of the account.
14. Changes to the service and to these terms; relocation
14.1 Changes to the service. We may modify, extend or remove site features: adding or removing catalog modules, changing plans and prices, changing how requests are handled, or removing the channels through which requests arrive. We are not required to give advance notice of changes that do not materially affect users.
14.2 Relocation and closure. The site may change its address or domain, and may close. When that happens, it will be announced with reasonable notice on the homepage and a contact channel for outstanding matters will be published. Material published on the site —including vacancies and legal notices— may disappear without creating liability for Comatus.
14.3 Changes to these terms. We may modify these terms. Substantial changes are announced at least 15 days in advance on the homepage and, for registered accounts, by email to the address on file. If you do not accept the new version, you may close your account and request deletion of your data under the privacy notice. The version in force is always published on this page with its update date.
14.4 Continuity. If the service closes or moves, mentorships and orders already in progress are settled directly between the parties, and payment for work already delivered remains the student's responsibility under the agreement with the professional.
15. Termination
15.1 By the user. You may stop using the service at any time. You may request closure and deletion of your account by writing to saul_lopez@uadec.edu.mx. Your account stays active until you confirm the closure. And if you simply stop using the site, nothing happens: your data is kept until the deadline in section 7 of the privacy notice is met and is then deleted all the same, because the purge does not depend on you asking for the closure. If you ask for deletion, section 6 of the privacy notice applies, including the retention exceptions, and we reply to you by email.
15.2 By the platform. We may end the relationship in the cases listed in section 9.4, and at any time when the law or an authority requires it.
15.3 Effects of termination. Your sessions are closed and your requests are no longer processed. Data is retained or deleted according to the deadlines in section 7 of the privacy notice. The clauses on intellectual property, limitation of liability, indemnity and governing law survive termination.
16. Governing law and jurisdiction; notices
16.1 Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the United Mexican States.
16.2 Jurisdiction. Any dispute is subject to the competent courts of the consumer's domicile and, failing that, the controller's domicile, in Saltillo, Coahuila. If the Mexican Federal Consumer Protection Law applies to your case, the non-waivable rights established by that law are respected. Before going to court, please write to us: most matters are resolved by email.
16.3 Notices. Notices are sent to your email address or your contact number — the one registered on your account or used in your request. Notices sent by email are deemed received on the day they are sent. If you change your address, tell us, or your notices will keep going to the old one.
16.4 Succession. If Comatus moves, changes its name or legal form, the obligations under this version pass to the entity or person that continues operating the service.
17. Contact
For anything related to these terms you can write to saul_lopez@uadec.edu.mx. If your question is about a specific request, include the module, the approximate date and the type of service so we can locate it. We reply as soon as possible, normally within 5 business days. The party responsible for the site is Saúl Damián López de la Peña, creator and administrator of Comatus.
18. Accessibility and questions
18.1 Accessibility. The site is designed to work on phone and desktop, and we strive to keep it legible and operable without a mouse. If you find a barrier to using part of the site, write to us and we will look at it. We review what you report and fix it in the next version of the site; in the meantime, if a part of the site cannot be used, write to us with the page and what happens, and we will tell you whether there is an alternative.
18.2 Questions. The quick answer is in the frequently asked questions. You can also reach us by WhatsApp from the button on the homepage or by email. We answer in Spanish and English.
18.3 Asking for help. If these terms are hard for you to understand or to comply with, write to us before hiring: we are looking for a reasonable solution and, where appropriate, we will help you work it out.
